The Spotlight Dance Company was establised in 1990 to offer the more serious dance student ages 10 through 18 the opportunity to train at a higher level and to expand their performing opportunities through seasonal shows and community service events.

 

Company acceptance is strictly by audition and prior to auditions, each interested student must have all the pre-consecutive dance requirements. Once a student is accepted into company they are required to take all designated company and assigned company classes based on the Fall Dance Schedule for that dance season.

 

Our Company Classes are taught by our professional faculty whose credits include American Ballet Theater, Broadway's "Cats", "A Chorus Line", "Bring In The Noise, Bring In The Funk" along with teachers who have obtained their B.A. & Masters Degree in Dance Education & Musical Theatre.

 

Participation within the company offers our students the opportunity to receive credit for their community service events which they can apply towards their college applications & student government. The experience enriches their life not just as a dance student but as a person, enlightens them to see that through hard work, dedication & committment they can achieve their goals & lifts their spirits when their day may be long.

 

Community Service Performances for the Ward Melville Heritage Organization include: "Walk for Beauty", Halloween Festival, Chinese New Year & Summer Concert on the Green. For the Three Village Chamber; Setauket Electric Holiday Parade & Setauket Memorial Day Parade.

 

As of September 2010 we are in the process to establishing 2 New Companies; 

Parade Company Ballet & Parade Company Tap which will be an extention of our Parade Company Jazz students in the 4th & 5th Grade. They will need 2 consecutive years of Ballet, 2 consecutive years of Tap & 2 consecutive years of  Jazz to qualify to audition in May of 2011.
